School of Education Research and Development Support

Applications are reviewed on the 1st and 15th of each month (September through May)

WHAT IS SCHOOL OF EDUCATION RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT?

SOE Research and Development Support is a supplemental source of funding to help cover the cost of eligible professional and leadership development experiences. Access to the pool of funds is limited to School of Education faculty, staff, and students who have exhausted all other available departmental and institutional funding. This funding program is a collaborative initiative and applications are considered by a committee made up of a cross-section of SOE representatives. Awardees are expected to submit a final product upon completion of the funded activity. For a sample list of final products, click here

WHO CAN APPLY?

School of Education faculty, staff, and students are eligible to apply for funds to support professional and leadership development experiences related to their expertise, job responsibilities, and/or studies. Visiting faculty are eligible, however adjunct faculty are not.

HOW CAN THE FUNDS BE USED?

Approved experiences include (a) presenting scholarly work, (b) conducting research, (c) developing a grant proposal (of at least $100,000), or (d) receiving specialized training.

Awarded funds are intended to be supplemental, therefore the committee has established the following funding limits:

For Faculty

  • Requests are limited to 25% of the total project budget
  • Individual faculty members are limited to one grant award per academic year
  • Stipends will no longer be funded

For Students

  • Requests are limited to 50% of the total project budget
  • Requests for travel must be made at least one month prior to travel dates
  • Students graduating in the spring semester can receive funds through June 30 of their graduating year, but must be a student at the time of application
  • Stipends are not able to be funded

For Staff

  • Requests are limited to 50% of the total project budget
  • Stipends are not able to be funded

If a recipient is unable to complete the activity for which the funding was granted, adequate advanced notice is expected. Failure to do so may prevent the individual from receiving an award in the future.
