Practice the theory, methods and skills you learn in the classroom to apply yourself as a leader and a shaper of young lives.
A major in elementary education provides you with the opportunity to make a difference and have an impact on your community. You can become a classroom instructor or work outside the classroom with nonprofit organizations. You may also consider continuing your education to pursue a career in education administration or social work.
The College of Charleston is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP). Through our strong local partnerships, you'll gain hands-on classroom experience in diverse settings. That won't only provide you with valuable practice, but it will strengthen your connection with the community. In class, you'll study topics like classroom management and how to instruct a diverse array of learners.
"We learned a lot of hands-on techniques that have been very helpful during my student teaching experience. Not all students learn in the same fashion, so you need to tailor your methodology accordingly. Our program emphasizes that to develop the best classroom instructors."
