With this major, you'll be prepared to inspire middle-grades students to love learning, and you'll be making a positive impact on the world as well.
As a middle grades educator, you will be a mentor to your students. In this critical period of adolescent development, your students will look to you to motivate them to stay on the right path. This major will prepare you to lead in the classroom or work as an education administrator. Some graduates end up working in nonprofit organizations or the Peace Corps.
At the College, you have the option of two distinct content areas for concentrated coursework and child development. Through instruction and hands-on experience in the classroom, you'll learn to create effective classroom environments and connect with diverse learners. Our program includes supervised experiences teaching in public schools, and it's accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP).
